Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse

Let me begin by saying that I LOVE the Spiderverse. I love the different versions of Spider-Man and the different dimensions that are out there and everything. It's great. So when I heard they were making a movie containing this multiverse, I of course got so exited and couldn't wait to see it. But loving the Spiderverse doesn't mean that I would like this movie, right?
True. But I did like it. I loved it. Not because of the Spiderverse, but because of how they executed the story and the character development. As a writer, I could see all the twists and turns of good writing in this movie. They definitely did a good job. Every character is balanced and unique, none of them showed signs of duplication in personality or motive, so that is a plus.
There are some very emotional parts in this movie, however, as I am eighteen and it was super sad even for me; and though it looks super comic-booky and maybe even childish, it is definitely a movie for older kids, teens. Adults, too, if they want to see it! I would recommend it to anyone in those categories, honestly.
Now, onto the characters! The Spiders were amazing, I love them.
~Spider Noir had an unexpected personality, I had thought he was going to be one of those dark, hardened characters, and he sort of was. But he was also such a cinnamon roll. The way he was always saying something in the background and carrying around that Rubik's cube was adorable. I was, however, a bit thrown off by his voice. So maybe they could have worked on that.
~Miles was an amazing character to watch develop over the course of the story, and I love this version of his origins. The only thing I wonder about is will he be called Spider-Man because in his universe he's the only one, or will he be Kid Arachnid?
~Spider-Ham was a bit too cartoony for me, but I'm sure it's just my preferences, as I usually like more real characters, and younger audiences may find him more likable.
~The first Spider-Man you see in the movie is amazing. I wish they would make a movie with just him going around doing the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man stuff.
~Spider-Gwen was also amazing in this movie. Although I got thrown off again when she said "I'm the one and only Spider-Woman," because I know this is not true, lol.
~The Japanese girl and her Spider-Mech thing didn't really fit for me, it almost felt like they could have just left her and Spider-Ham out, but I understand where they are coming from with those because they are in the comics and they might feel like they need to include the other versions of the Spiderverse. However, for me this felt like you're going 'into the Spiderverse' not delving deep into the comics. So I really wanted to see more Spiders. *cough* like Scarlet Spider, and Spider-Punk, *cough*
The pace of this movie was great, there were some slow parts, but they absolutely fit and you can feel that you needed them.
The villains were a little left out, I think. I feel like we could have learned a bit more about why Scorpion is working with Fisk other than he just hates Spider-Man. And who is the grey guy with Fisk? I wondered for most of the film until I decided he must be Tombstone. Why is Doctor Octopus a woman? I have a few issues with the villains, but Fisk and The Prowler were fine, they were well-written villains; and I'm sure the others are, too, but I just wish I could have gotten more of an explanation on them.
Overall, I give this movie Four (4) Stars.
I hope you enjoyed this review, and let me know if there is a movie you'd like to see me review next time!
